Avantages
While the comparatively high starting salary and potential of a bonus is attractive, this is a deceptive aspect of the program. As a graduate you will work longer hours than any office job and unpaid overtime is standard. Overtime or weekend work is not “optional” it is expected of you and as a result this can take it’s toll on both you and your relationships outside of work.
Inconvénients
Prepare for long hours and a complete lack of structure as a graduate. As mentioned in other posts this graduate “program” is non existent. As a graduate you are no different to a standard warehouse worker or forklift operator in terms of training opportunities or exposure to different areas of the business. All you are given is the title of “grad” which is generally a negative thing among workers. During my time with Mainfreight I took on more work as employees left and found myself in a position that was convenient for my managers. There was zero incentive to change my role and as a result I decided to move on. I only wish I had done so sooner.
