Avantages

Wonderful and inspiring cause. Most colleagues are supportive and collaborative and there are lots of resources at your fingertips. Great charity wide opportunities such as mentoring, access to news and resources through an informative intranet and clear policies and procedures are in place. On the whole, there is a real passion and belief in making a difference to stop child abuse. An engaged and dedicated board of trustees and lots of access to executive management through coffee drop ins and charity wide meetings.

Inconvénients

Sadly, there is a lot of bullying which I witnessed and experienced first hand by middle management. Worryingly, I see that other reviews outline this and nothing has been done to eradicate this damaging behaviour. Middle management are cliquey and, at times, ruthless. There is a lack of consistency in standards, with some managers possessing the skills to motivate staff and lead effectively. Others are less competent and allowed to continue within their roles without receiving the necessary support and training to enable them to lead with integrity and professionalism.

It isn’t possible to act specifically without detail, but we do continually look at behaviours in our annual appraisal process and staff and volunteers have the opportunity to raise concerns through our whistle blowing policy if anonymity is important.
