Avantages
OJSC PROGRESS is a market leader in Baby Food & Drinks in Russia and the CIS markets as of 2024. The brand Frutonyanya is a true love mark in these regions, known for its top-quality baby food and extensive product assortment. As a marketing professional, I was proud to work with this brand.
The company manufactures Frutonyanya at its own factory and has a well-developed organizational structure similar to that of global corporations, including departments like marketing, sales & trade marketing, purchasing, co-packing, R&D, and manufacturing. This setup suggests potential opportunities for professional growth.
Inconvénients
However, I found that professional advancement is often dependent on the rapport with one’s line manager. Emotional connection and social rapport, such as sharing a timely joke, seem to carry more weight than strategic or analytical skills and personal enthusiasm.
There is also a limited amount of training available for professional development. In my three years with the company, I only received one training session, which I believe is insufficient.
I think the limited growth opportunities stem from a weak system for staff development. There's no solid practice for succession planning, and the PDP (Personal Development Plan) review process is largely formal, focused on ticking boxes in Excel rather than engaging in meaningful personal discussions.
If you're considering joining the company with the goal of growing your career, it might be wise to think carefully before accepting the offer
