Avantages
Open for dialogue, if you want to voice an opinion do it.
Transparency on financial and company operations (New leads, results of trade shows, where the company is going.) You get to hear the good and bad without censorship.
Open vacation policy and work hours - Want to stay home today and work? Go ahead and do it. Find a cheap flight that leaves on a Thursday? Spend a few extra hours on Wednesday getting your work finished, book it and have a co-worker cover for you.
You control your destiny - If you want to take a class and learn something new use the tuition reimbursement available. Interested in a different role once you have been around a while? Tell your manager and look into the possibilities.
Down to earth. Not located in downtown Portland to save costs, don't have a ton of expensive fancy perks. A true effort to instill frugality and not incur unnecessary costs. Little savings that will pay off in the long run. A blue collar feel to it that I enjoy.
For me, one of the top companies I could work at in Oregon if not the best. Changing the way business is done, you get to be part of that change and see a small company grow into the goal of being the industry leader.
Inconvénients
Occasionally long hours are required, but that is needed at any startup.
Growing pains are happening, but the chance to see that transformation and get over the little humps is invaluable.
