Avantages

When you start at Pivot, you better be hungry. Hungry to better yourself. Hungry to work on challenging projects. Hungry to do great work. Hungry to contribute to an extraordinary business. Hungry to be part of one of Chicago’s most distinguished agencies. And most importantly, hungry to be part of the Pivot family. You have to work hard, really hard, practice patience, and then work hard some more. Leadership recognizes this and acknowledges your performance. Working your way up in the company is totally possible by proving yourself over and over. Don’t get me wrong—once you’ve got a good handle on things, the daily routine gets easier and seems to stabilize. I know this because I’ve been here for 4 years now, worked my way up and have studied the dynamics, listened, pushed my work, listened, took notes, put myself out there, listened some more and ultimately honed my skills. Pivot gets some incredible opportunities that come through the door, too. It’s exciting to be a part of that. Another rare attribute is that you’re not forced nor expected to work the obscene hours that our industry is often known for. Yes, some weeks will you’ll work more hours than others but that routine never remains indefinitely. Liz and Brock are some of the most generous people I know. Do right by them and the business and you’re golden (duh). Liz has an open door policy. If you have an issue, GO TALK to her. Sure, she can be kinda intimidating. But really, she’s just a person like you and I. She’s monstrously busy but really does care about her employees and obviously Pivot’s success. Working alongside Brock is both challenging and enlightening—there’s a reason he’s been doing this for 27+ years. You will do some of your best work under his direction. If you’re considering joining Pivot, I encourage you to come and meet our team and see our space for yourself. We're a group of no-bullsh*t, hard-working creatives that generate really strong work and know how to have a good time, too. Pros: Generous paid time off Currently allows 2 work from home days/month as needed Currently offers 3 bonus summer Friday’s completely off based on a pre-determined schedule (you can switch with someone if needed) Good pay Profit sharing Full benefits Open-door policy Tons of talented members Growth opportunities Strong design principles Great office space

Inconvénients

Sometimes an influx of tedious and mundane work can bog down the creative mindset, but I know management is working on this.

Avantages

I have worked at several agencies and Pivot truly sets the bar for talented colleagues. Across all departments, the caliber of the employees is top notch. And not only are they smart, they are kind, caring and collaborative. The Executive Leadership team is also truly dedicated to retaining said talent so there is a focus on competitive benefits, salary and fostering a sense of community and fun. Beyond that, the ELT not only listens, but acts. They solicit feedback and proactively implement that feedback to consistently improve the agency. We recently implemented new agency work flow protocols in direct response to employee feedback. In addition to a talented internal team, Pivot is focused on wellness oriented clients who HELP the world be a better place. If you work at Pivot, you can rest assured that the work you contribute to is important and meaningful. And let’s be honest, agency life can be hard and it is certainly not for everyone. Deadlines and pressure are unavoidable in this line of work. However, the overall work/life balance is VERY fair and if you need help, help will be provided. There is also a very fair mentality in regards to life requirements outside of work. If you need to drop your kid at school or go to the dentist, as long as your work is handled and you have alerted your team, it is not a problem whatsoever.

Inconvénients

Agency life can be unpredictable. If you are not someone who thrives in a fast paced environment and can easily change gears, this is not the right fit.

Avantages

The beauty of Pivot is that there is no ceiling and no guard rails for how far you can go and grow. If you are motivated and smart, you will succeed. If you have ideas, you can make them happen. Liz (our President) is not stuck in her ways and is always open to finding better and new ways to do things. You have a voice at Pivot and you are not just a number or a cog in a wheel. She schedules 1:1s with employees at all levels of the agency to hear what they have to say. I've been at 3 other agencies and have never experienced that type of transparency and access to senior management. In terms of employee benefits, Pivot has a very generous vacation policy. Week shut down between xmas and NYE, the typical holidays plus 4 days for Memorial Day, President's day, and summer hours. And Liz genuinely wants people to have a work/life balance. That's not to say there are not the occasional late nights or stressful weeks, but the office is generally empty by 6pm. What other agency can really say that? In my few short years at Pivot, I've truly embraced all the opportunities and challenges that have come my way. Working with smart and fun people sets Pivot apart. We all come together for a common goal to do great work and make our clients happy.

Inconvénients

Expectations are high and if you cannot deliver, it can be stressful. You must learn how to prioritize, be efficient, and be a true team player. If you want to come to work to just earn a pay check and not be productive or push yourself, Pivot is not for you.
