Avantages
Most professional roles in IT have flexible start and end times and can accommodate family commitments and work life balance, however growing work commitements and staff reductions make unpaid work outside of hours more common. Most staff are great people who have a genuine care for the delivery of IT services to staff and students.
Inconvénients
A recent restructure included a range of redundancies and organisational change that has had a significant impact on the culture across all areas of the IT department. Many staff have been moved into roles where they do not have the skills or experience to complete the work which has led to significant stress and tension. The new organisational structure is very management heavy and there are no clear ways for work to be allocated or prioritised across the IT organisation.
