Avantages

Terrific, smart, friendly, capable people. Teams and individuals work well together, and communication across organizations is for the most part excellent. There is a strong positive energy, a commitment to making things happen.

Inconvénients

Redback is now part of Ericsson, a large Swedish company. All corporate takeovers involve integration pains, but this one has been bizarre. Walls are coming up, obstacles put into place. (Example: IT support outsourced, with local experts terminated. Simple "check this server" requests now take days). There is a big cultural disconnect.

Avantages

The salaries are generally pretty high. Work roles and responsibilities are somewhat flexible; if you want to learn something new and you have time for it, nobody prevents you from digging into it. The patent program is rewarding. You can develop your skills here if you don't need much hand-holding.

Inconvénients

Management is very reactive and has a hard time doing anything new. The company does not encourage innovation except in some superficial ways. Managers do not understand the product very well and only a few are technical. Some groups are swamped in work while some groups are quite overstaffed. I've seen both sides.
