The technology org is a huge mess, but it is obviously a symptom of the business itself being dysfunctional. Managers don't understand how the systems work and are consistently surprised when things don't work as expected. No communication from technology leadership. The technical staff largely consists of contractors so there is no team cohesion due to new people rolling on and off the team on a daily basis. In house people have to pick up a ton of slack because of quality issues that result from the use of a contracting firm. Little structure in the SDLC process and they cargo cult practices like agile which exist in name only, My experience with my manager was that he would constantly say one thing and then do another. We had several discussions where I would get his approval to complete a task in a certain way and then weeks later I would literally get yelled at for doing what we agreed upon. On the plus side he had a silly sounding voice so the screaming wasn't particularly stressful Rampant sexism, women get treated differently, theyre expected to take notes for others during meetings and are assigned more menial tasks, as well as criticized more often and more harshly for the same mistakes that the men of similar seniority make. Huge pay inequality. I discreetly surveyed folks before I left and one person was making 3 times as much as another with a similar level of experience doing the same work. Would you believe that the higher earner was a man and the lower earner was a woman?
