Avantages

Spring Health has a lot of tailwinds at a time when many startups are struggling. There is and incredibly strong sales team growing the business and appetite for the solution within the market. This means there is a lot of potential at Spring Health to grow your career, support a great mission, and grow the company.

Inconvénients

I read the reviews before joining and had a sense of what I was likely getting into, but if you're not used to a very individualistic, and at time combative, culture Spring Health will not be a great fit for you. Of the startups I've been a part of (one of which is at the same scale as Spring) Spring is by the far the most political. Spring also has the unfortunate habit of promoting people and behaviors that perpetuate a culture of shifting blame and seizing wins. To get a sense of this I'd refer you to the infamous insider article (google it). Culture comes from the top and the two co-founders have set an example that many high-performers emulate. In my ~3 months at Spring I've seen both co-founders make comments in public slack channels that nitpick, point blame, and undermine individuals across the organization. As a female myself, it was disheartening to have my first female CEO perpetuate the exact behaviors Spring Health publicly condemns (just look at our blog!) There is so much opportunity to be better and retain talent.

The company's products help people in meaningful ways

Inconvénients

Company is very poorly misled. There isn't a real vision or culture. In general, ways of working here are scattered and immature. We have a new SDLC every 10 months or so. Constant re-orgs and changes in leadership cause instability. Teams and ICs are re-allocated every 3–6 months. Priorities are constantly shifting. "Science will win" except when it comes to evaluating AI's place in our product. Sudden AI focus despite not having a real vision for how it aligns with our mission. Leaders who report directly to the CEO often cycle out every year or so. There seems to be very little awareness or ownership that leaders aren't set up for success. The company says it cares about employee "thriving" but promotes leaders with very poor scores. It seems to be more of a vanity metric/tool to fire people.
