Avantages

Great 6-figure base and comp plan Friendly coworkers Big boss likes to throw money around and is generous with random bonuses. They do an open book management style so the transparency of the business’ financials is interesting and it’s actually a great idea (guessing this helps create an image of transparency)

Inconvénients

Don’t be fooled, this is just another OTT reseller, there is massive competition in the space and no competitive advantage here. You’re selling the same remnant, bottom of the barrel inventory as any other major advertising/OTT company. They claim to have exclusive access to premium inventory but they don’t, and they don’t do enough volume to make a difference in costs. If you know the space, you know the DSP they use. Either the marketing material (at the time) was full of misrepresentations or the management team didn’t understand the tech completely. The people running campaigns are incentivized to increase the company’s margin in a way that conflicts with client’s campaign success and goals. They hire seasoned sales people from TV for their existing relationships, but your educated clients will probably not renew with you after they see the inventory they received. The inbound pipeline is filtered by the sales manager who also sells, yep you guessed it, major conflict. So, don’t be surprised when he gives himself the best leads and closes the company’s biggest layups. At the time, the big boss split time with his other business, an ad agency. So he didn’t really know what was going on with Strategus.

Avantages

The culture they provide, even while being 100% remote, is great. Decent pay and good benefits. They're always trying to improve. Love the paid holidays + extra Fridays off when there's a Monday holiday. The full week off for Thanksgiving and ~two weeks off at the EOY is incredible. The team is great, really smart and likeable people all around. Everyone is trying their best and is ultra-competitive.

Inconvénients

The space is really saturated, and while industry itself is innovative, it can get a little watered down. Larger competitors have a lot more $$$ + teams backing them, allowing them to do a bit more than we can at the moment.

Avantages

It is a fantastic team with incredible remote culture. That is very true. If that’s all you’re looking for then this is a great fit.

Inconvénients

I’ve never seen a team with such a strong foundation be so bad at providing a career growth path. They’re not interested in career growth for entry-level hires (especially on net new side) unless you want to risk being a seller for them where they’ll let you go within a year if you don’t hit goal. They will always hire an outside hire over promoting someone from within for any cross-team promotions. So make sure you’re committed to being in net new sales with them for the long haul before signing up for that side of the biz cuz there’s no way out besides leaving one day once you do. If you’re a career seller looking for a home then this is a great fit. If you’re a younger, more green hire looking to break in and grow a career I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
