Avantages
PLEASE bear with me for my long post. I hope you find it illuminating. - Nearly-unmatched flexibility since it's online - Decent availability while schools are in session - Paychecks are processed through a capable automated system so they arrive on time
Inconvénients
- The "mentors" and other managing staff do absolutely nothing to support tutors in terms of working towards a promotion - "Mentors" routinely berate tutors for going over arbitrary time limits (some students have access to unlimited minutes due to educational or corporate discounts) despite the fact that most students on the platform find longer lessons more effective - The pay is abhorrent; Tutor.com charges direct consumers $40/hour and tutors hardly see any of it - Nearly impossible to get a promotion in any form; over 400 sessions required with 4.5 star rating to achieve Level II — 300 more required for Level III amongst several other guidelines - Tutor.com will always side with the student; if a student complains about the tutor's methodologies, Tutor.com will swiftly chastise the tutor. I was told to stop avoiding the student's question in a session where the student was asking racially-charged questions with offensive answers - The "Tutor.com Classroom" application is poorly designed at best, and a nightmare at its worst; it is based on Internet Explorer and ages-old programming languages
