Avantages

Great experience working as an operational meteorologist for clients, entry-level. Co-workers are mostly friendly. You always have something to do or weather to monitor.

Inconvénients

Poor Training: Most training is done via PowerPoint you have to read on your own time. Management does not properly train new hires to do their job effectively. If management does not like your performance the first time, they just hire new people straight from college to replace you. Management is horrible in terms of remote working. Due to the recent pandemic, most people had the opportunity to work remotely while any new hires have to work in office. Management love to play favorites and does not bother helping those who ask for help. They rather push that task down than doing it themselves. PAY INEQUALITY!! Huge consideration when applying! They will pay those with a higher salary WITH NO EXPERIENCE than those with experience. Owner WILL THREATEN TO NOT PAY YOU OF YOU VISIT STATE THAT HAVE A HIGHER RISK OF COVID!! The owner only cares about money and not the well-being of their staff! If you do decide to work here, work for only a year, and move on to higher prospects. For those who are working for a Master's degree, salary increase very little so look for other higher-paying salaries for Master's degrees. Expect to work mostly evenings and overnights for entry-level. Rarely work in the morning or afternoon. Side note: Diversity is very LACKING at this company! Only white, non-Latino people work here.

If you have read the review above, please take the time to read our response below. The aggressive remarks made by this employee are not who we are as an organization and we feel strongly that they should be addressed. We do not threaten employees at WeatherWorks. Under New Jersey government guidelines of Covid-19 before vaccines became widely available, we were mandated to quarantine employees if they travelled to a state that was under a travel advisory due to higher risk. For this reason, we encouraged employees to not travel to those areas during a global pandemic unless they absolutely had to. This is for their safety and the safety of our employees, as well as compliance with government and state protocol. The employee can decide to take Paid Time Off to quarantine if they chose to travel during this time. Taking unpaid time during this period was also an available option, never jeopardizing employment. Diversity is something that we watch over closely and consider all applicants who approach the company. We collaborate with candidates from the pool that is presented to us. Because meteorology is a niche concentration and expertise, this may limit diversity. Pay at WeatherWorks is competitive and in line with other employers. Employees are compensated based on experience and skill set. We do not consider there to be a pay gap among staff and we work on a general sliding scale of pay directly correlated to role and tenure. Over the past 10 years, we have given raises every single year, averaging well over 5% a year and sometimes multiple times a year, and reward employees who excel with bonuses and higher pay increases as they take on more responsibility. Training is largely hands-on for the first three weeks, followed by a mix of hands-on, practice with feedback and self guided (PowerPoint) tutorials for additional learning. Much of that information is proprietary to WeatherWorks and has been developed overtime by our staff. There is a learning curve in the first year and the initial winter can be stressful at times, but the majority of new employees with solid meteorological skills and work ethic have been able to complete their day-to-day job responsibilities and become better meteorologists. Our Work From Home program is provided to employees based on tenure and is discussed at the time of offer. As an employer deemed as “Essential” by the state of New Jersey, the nature of our work and the need for training, growth and collaboration required us to keep new employees in office, masked and socially distanced during some portions of the pandemic. We encourage all of our employees to come to us to discuss any concerns they may have with an open door policy. If you have questions about anything in this review- please give us a call to discuss.
