Avantages

Flexible, heaps of available work, give you training and easy to be initially employed; can earn good money from home if you work very hard (for the low pay)

Inconvénients

The initial 'honeymoon glow' of working for this company and thinking I was a valued Consultant and employee was based on the following: I was invited to be a Super Junior Consultant as soon as my probation period ended; I received several one-on-one special requests for clients who said my teaching style benefited them greatly; I was invited to join the Demo Tream; I was invited to be trained for the Oxford team and a voucher for specialized TEYL training; My rating was 9.7 overall and climbing However, the honeymoon is well and truly over. The cold, hard CONS of why I don't recommend working for TutorABC are listed here: 1.Lowest pay of all online English teaching companies I personally know of. 2. Management that is inflexible, distant and swathed in impenetrable shadows - who, if in fact, anyone at all - is reading unanswered emails? 3. The Warning Team will send you gut-wrenching, audacious emails that are glaringly bereft of good HR skills. These are rude responses to your letter of explanation to a perceived 'service agreement breach' that advise you of your lack of ethics and professionalism 4. They will ignore your emails if it suits them to not reply. 5. Spelling and grammatical errors in the material that go uncorrected and reissued to class after class even after I (and who knows how many others) have gone to the extra (unpaid) bother of advising them of the offending page number and paragraph in the material. The following below in this review relates my personal experience and circumstances whilst being employed with TutorABC. I choose to live outside of my own resident wealthy country (as listed on my review) as a volunteer to help impoverished people. The developing country I live in experiences high winds, earth tremors, earthquakes and monsoonal rain along with frequent power cuts and loss of internet. I received a warning from TutorABC the first time one of these power failures occurred, so I went to the following expense and measures to be a professional and reliable consultant: 1. Purchased a battery power back-up; 2. Paid for the most expensive internet provider available; 3. Bought a back-up data device from another internet provider. In the last month I have experienced loss of internet in rapid and continuous succession that has been unexpected, stressful and none of my back-ups-for-backups were able to save me. Therefore I was switched from the classes and marked as 'absent' despite the fact that I had already logged in, was on time and very much present before internet disappeared. During my honeymoon with TutorABC, I once assumed that the Warning Team would allow you to provide a valid reason for why you were absent, however they have NEVER accepted one - not even ONE - of my explanations. I believe this offer to explain yourself gives you, the consultant, no real recourse - the company's words of support are just hype and of hollow meaning. This is pretty much how our communications went.... Disclaimer: [*heavy sarcasm inserted here:] TutorABC: "How dared you, the consultant, embarrass us by making us tell your clients their favorite teacher had no internet in the country due to an earthquake! An earth tremor! Monsoonal rain! Oh the shame! Oh the grave misconduct of the consultant!" Consultant response: "My reasons for being absent and offending the clients are described as unethical and unprofessional? Misnomers, to put it lightly. Wow, first world problems, aren't they?" Hence, because I have now received 6 warnings in the last 6 months (5 of them occurring all in the last recent month or two for the reasons beyond my control explained above) my account and employment with TutorABC have been terminated. If this wasn't bad enough, you are left to wonder - is there not one HR person or someone in management working at TutorABC to look at your record and think, hey - this is a well-respected consultant who is valued by our clients - one that worked for us happily for at least 10 straight months with only 1 warning previously - now this same consultant has taken the time to plead with us that they are experiencing difficult internet problems 5 times in short succession - it seems like this is not a usual situation for this consultant. Shall we cut some slack based on the record of service prior to this past month? But it seems there is no-one. Not one person on your side. It seems being a good Teacher is not what is important to TutorABC. It seems what is important is for them to never have to refund a client their money if a teacher is missing in action, despite that teacher not usually one to be missing in action. Hence, TutorABC's lust for money is exposed. More money for them, NOT for their hard working consultants. A note specifically for WARNING TEAM, for any English words a little hard to understand in this review, please do a Google-search under: RESPECT. GIVE IT TO GET IT. And for any English-teaching job seekers who might be reading this: if you live in a wealthy country with extremely reliable internet and power you may not have any trouble continuing to work for TutorABC. On the other hand, if you think you will be considered as a valued and important employee based on your client's view of you - think again and read all the reviews carefully.
