Avantages

I really enjoyed my co-workers, and the upside of nonda being a poorly organized new startup is that you get a lot of autonomy and can develop new skills as a result. Also, the location in Palo Alto, free lunch, unlimited vacation time and the option to work from home are all great.

Inconvénients

Do not work at nonda. You will absolutely regret it. The founder of the company is a terrible leader and the turnover at the company is CRAZY as a result. They hire and fire constantly, and everyone who works there is in fear of being fired all the time. There is a CEO under the founder, and he's a nice guy, but the founder is the boss so it doesn't really matter what the CEO thinks. He told one of my co-workers that he was doing a great job and then fired him a couple weeks later (after that co-worker disagreed with the founder).

Avantages

I had complete ownership over my work while still collaborating often with my supervisor and co-intern. Didn't feel like I was a cog in a machine, simply churning out boring/mundane tasks for my superiors. I knew my work had direct impact on the company, which made it more meaningful, and that's something I've been able to speak proudly about after the fact. Also, got exposure to a LOT of things. As you would expect in such a small office, you're gonna wear a lot of hats and I found that fun and exciting. Honestly thought it was a challenging, interesting, and really unique experience where I learned a lot not just with technical skills, but also about myself. It was seriously the best place I could have ended up that summer, and probably the most unique internship I've had thus far. For me, simply giving it four stars because no place is perfect (you'd have to be heaven on earth).

Inconvénients

Felt like I was being squeezed at the end for work, but I've learned that's the case with most competitive internships where you're getting to do legitimate work. Would kinda rather be busy than sitting around waiting for something to do. Also, I can understand why some reviews lambast the interview process. It's definitely very time consuming, and if I hadn't gotten the internship I would have been annoyed about the amount of time I devoted to it (for instance, studying a lot for the GAIQ exam). However, now I can also boast that I'm GAIQ qualified, and that's been helpful for me in a postgrad job search.
