This was the only question that I was asked, seriously, it was ridiculous. I had the job posting in front of me (interviewed by phone), so I answered it accordingly without reading back the job duties verbatim. Plus, I’ve known many train dispatchers and have been in their work environment too many times to count, so I know what they do. The interviewer gave me his description of what a train dispatcher does, and I quote, “it’s like you’re swimming, trying to keep your head above water & then we throw you a baby.” Compared to the way I described it, I don’t know how anyone could come close to saying what he wanted to hear. Ridiculous.
