J'ai travaillé chez Thames Water en Contrat Permanent

    Avantages

wide range of areas of business to get involved with

    Inconvénients

like most corporate bodies there is sometimes a lot of red tape to get through to get things done, but conversely a good company to get to know how to work if you new to the workplace

J'ai travaillé chez Thames Water en Contrat Permanent

    Avantages

Big company with many great peers and colleagues who work hard to deliver critical services for millions of customers. Signs of passionate (change driven) leaders in the middle management areas of the company structure.

    Inconvénients

Difficult industry to influence process and technology changes - innovation is considered important but risk averse core business slows, and or restricts routes to adoption and implementation.

Je travaille chez Thames Water à plein temps (Plus d'un an)

    Avantages

Thames offer a great graduate scheme that offers a lot of opportunities if you are unsure which direction you want to take your career in. The staff are for the most part very friendly and helpful and there is a good working environment in most of the offices.

    Inconvénients

People are often overworked and budget limitations often halt progress.
    Change generally happens very slowly.

    Conseils à la direction

Invest more in permanent staff to increase internal skill sets and cut back on the use of contractors.

J'ai travaillé chez Thames Water en Contrat Permanent (Moins d'un an)

    Avantages

    Great location and nice offices
    Loved the canteen!
Working hours are good (8-4 or 9-5)

    Inconvénients

Worked as a temp (nearly everyone at Thames is a temp) so no real chance of promotion or job security.
Glass meeting rooms so everyone can see you, what's that about?!

    Conseils à la direction

Include the temps in what's going on in the department where possible as they could end up being there for years, and they make up a large number of the employees. When I worked there in a small team of 7, only 2 of us were temps and we were excluded from every meeting or discussion about the department - it was isolating and really poor management.

  9. «Fair pay but unless your a graduate you go no where.»

    Avantages

Fair pay but unless your face fits no chance of promotion. Ok offices little jaded in places. Pension is quite good.

    Inconvénients

Poor career progression unless you speak in the correct way and have been to university and are a yes person. No benefits unless you are a m grade. Keep telling you to save money yet offer bonuses for under performing m grade managers.

    Conseils à la direction

Invest in everyone not just the m grade managers. Need to review how to run a organisation. Say we all in it together then offer 90% of staff nothing whilst the 10% take everything.

    Avantages

you work by yourself and are mostly left alone. your outside which is good in nice weather.

    Inconvénients

too much of a boys club and useless qualification. no develepment.

    Conseils à la direction

actually pay attention to tech's and site's not just when it suits you. managers are a complete waste of time they only care about looking good not improving sites. they dont actually manage anything other than there reputation and paperwork. site ownership is a joke. tech's are viewed by there site's performance not theres. if someone has been on the same site for 11 years then he struggles if he goes to another so they keep him there and say hes a good tech.

    Avantages

Building was in a good area

    Inconvénients

Management were very poor. They did not care about the staff at all, only wanted results and targets to be kept to - rather than taking into consideration stress etc.

    Conseils à la direction

Show a bit more heart, be a little human and appreciate employees are never perfect but are willing to improve.
