    Some nice coworkers. Good paid time off.

    Inconvénients

    The metabolism of the organization as a whole is the slowest I've ever experienced in 40 years. Nobody responds to an email in one day. One manager I worked with took 6 weeks to respond.

    Bring in more managers from the outside who have experienced how other organizations do things. Quit doing so much promotion from within so they only know one way to do things - the ESD way.

    Avantages

    Big changes in leadership (recently) have made for a healthy work environment and a clarified mission. A few months ago even, there was far less mutual respect between upper management and “the little people”- but that culture has been steadily improving. The new Commissioner has overhauled so much of the Leadership team and it’s made for a much better workplace. Keep up the good work.

    Inconvénients

    There is still some struggle to find a healthy work/life balance- something that cannot be resolved w/o more employees.

    Keep moving in the direction you’re going. Get rid of the lazy employees with “state worker brain” and bring in fresh people who have drive and desire.

    Avantages

    The mission of the agency is great for the community and I really enjoyed the work I did that helped so many people.

    Inconvénients

    Staff are treated unfair and there is extreme favoritism in the work place. Staff are unappreciated and treated so horribly it is almost unbelievable. Supervisors beat down their staff to the point of depression and extreme anxiety in the work place. Tension is high constantly and you never know when it is your turn to become the victim due to the way your supervisor treats you. Staff fear retaliation so they are afraid...

    Look into areas where there is a lot of turn over. There is a reason people leave. Take staff seriously when they come to you for help. Remove the problem people when meetings and trainings dont work. In my experience, my supervisor would be forced to go to several trainings and meetings to correct her issues then come back to the office and make fun of the trainings and go back to her normal ways.     Avantages

    Promotions come fast, because so many good workers leave. The agency itself has a good mission, and some good people (that they will burn out and lose.)

    Inconvénients

    Chaos and upheaval have been standard operating procedure for longer than I remember. Most of the management (WMS and above) are more concerned about their positions than doing their jobs right. There is command and control, as one reviewer said, while management smiles and says it is LEAN or employee engagement, then tells You to just do it. The workload just keeps increasing because they don't hire for positions out...

    To The New commissioner, take a hard look at who is left in management and staff. Look at turnover under The old guard. Get rid of those with high turnover, there is a reason good people leave. Except for maybe Kelly Lindseth, you can lose all your old leadership and it would be an improvement immediately.

    Avantages

    It is good to see the willingness to change and update at the agency. There is a growing Lean culture and customer/people centered activity. Management is energetic and believes in our mission and the beneficial work of employees.

    Inconvénients

    There are some growing pains as the agency moves through changes, but at least the movement is forward. Some employees hold on to negativity based on past issues, which can affect coworkers.
