We perform an exit interview of every person that resigns from the company. We want to learn why people leave so we can improve the company and be a better place to work. No one has ever raised these items in exit interviews or while employed with us. To speak to each specifically:
- Honesty: We are a services based company. We do indeed charge for our time, but we are careful to only charge for the time we spend working for a client. We take this seriously, and have multiple people check the appropriateness of each person’s timesheet. We also charge our customers for travel expenses when our travel is required. We do not charge them for any other items. In fact our contracts wouldn’t even allow it.
- Control of Sensitive Data: We do indeed have access to sensitive data and therefore are very careful with that data. We are audited by the US Government at least once a year to ensure that our systems, processes and procedures are adequate. In our latest audit (last 3 months) we received the US Government’s very highest rating, which we were informed by the auditors was extremely rare and very commendable.
- Taxes: This is a total surprise to me. We have used two systems over the last few years to calculate payroll taxes. QuickBooks and ADP (moved to in 2014). We are not aware of anyone that had a problem with the accuracy of payroll taxes that were deducted. Those calculations are done automatically by the payroll systems based on the employee income bracket and number of allowances the employee selects on their W4. I can’t say we have never had a problem with payroll, but I can say that for every problem that we were made aware of we have always resolved it to the employee’s complete satisfaction.
- Glassdoor reviews: We do like Glassdoor reviews. We find them to be a great way to highlight the company to both our customers and recruits. We don’t filter or review what is posted. We don’t have that ability. We only ask our staff two things: 1) Be honest & 2) if there is a problem, give us a chance to correct the issue before you post your review. No company or person is perfect. We believe in what we have created and we trust our staff to speak honestly about how they feel. Where we have made mistakes, we are willing to correct those mistakes and talk about them.
If anyone has a concern about any of the above items or anything else, whether you are an employee, a recruit, or a customer please feel free to come in and talk to me. My door is always open and I am happy to talk through any concerns. It’s unfortunate that this person didn’t take advantage of that opportunity.
