The work-life balance was good (although this was because I was given very little responsibility) and I was lucky to be in a team with really supportive and caring colleagues
Inconvénients
I joined on a graduate scheme which promised a structured programme running over 2 years which would equip me with the necessary skills and knowledge to transition into a career as a QS. The reality was that there was no structure to the graduate scheme and no real development. The few workshops we were invited to were incredibly generic and not relevant to the actual job role. In the day-to-day job, I was given no meaningful work to do and basically felt as though I was just doing random tasks here and there that weren’t helping me development. The learning and development team who were leading the graduate programme were aware of the situation I was in from early on, and I flagged it up again 2 more times over the year that I worked there, but nothing came from it. Other graduates raised concerns to the programme lead too, but we were pretty much ignored. The experience is totally dependent on whether you get placed on a contract that is prepared/able to train a graduate, and nothing that was promised in the job advert was delivered. If you’re expecting a graduate scheme where you work towards actual qualifications, this isn’t it. I feel like I’ve wasted a year of my life working here.
