Avantages

The in-house employees are some of the coolest and most down to earth people I've ever worked with. Always have a blast working with them.

Inconvénients

Tap & Barrel head office. It really feels like none of them have ever actually worked in a restaurant or bar. They're completely tone-deaf and out of touch, regularly making baffling decisions for the direction of their restaurants. They seem more than happy to put out an increasingly subpar product, increase prices, cut costs, and do the bare minimum in general. Brewhall management presented them with a proposed overhaul to our daily specials and happy hour menu. Head office days later decided to make our happy hour even worse by taking appetizers off of the happy hour menu and changed nothing else, providing even less value to our customers. They refuse to reliquish any control in terms of food and beverage menus, happy hour and daily specials (which are both a joke), event planning outside of normal reservations, and social media to in-house staff who know the clientelle and what Brewhall needs to bring more customers in. And despite that, they also refuse to do any of it themselves. There is virtually zero effort on their part to actively bring in new customers and stay competative or relevant. The venue is amazing, and could be packed most nights of the week if they would ever let us do anything fun with and for our customers, or give them a reason to come in the first place. Yet here we are, completely overstaffed with an empty venue, shifts getting cut left and right, with no ability to do anything about it. Apparently in-house management needs to prove that a proposed event will make four times our regular sales or they won't greenlight it, which is a completely arbitrary number. Is one and half times more money not better than less money no matter how you look at it? What company doesn't want to increase sales, regardless of by how much. Its bizarre. Last year we didn't even acknowledge Pride despite a large number of our staff are LGBTQ+, which they, and everyone else in-house were upset about. The only reason we're doing anything this year is because the parade route has changed and will be right by Brewhall. I guess they need to pretend to care this year, bad look in this city of they don't. Our five year anniversary just happened this past week. They didn't advertise until the day of, we didn't do anything big or special for it, all we did was put up a couple of ballons and have five dollar beers, which both customers and staff thought was extremely lame and disappointing. I could go on and on. Pre-covid Brewhall was a hotspot, always packed, and had an identity. It isn't, we aren't, and we don't anymore, but we could. But I suppose we'll just circle the drain infinitely because they'll always have enough money to keep the lights on.
