Avantages

- Market need exists if company can get their act together. But, the number of customer prospects that currently have aligned business models is small. Success will depend on whether company can invest in technology to expand the market. They have their work cut out for them.

Inconvénients

- CEO and her husband (co-founder) are inexperienced. This is their first tech company, and it shows. - The CEO doesn't appear very friendly and doesn't interact with the rest of the org enough. Is always on the phone. Feels like she doesn't care enough to build relationships across the company. - The "tech" is basically a highly dated prototype. The code is messy and not well understood. There's minimal test automation. There are tons of issues, and fixing any one of them has the potential to break something else. It also lacks sophistication, and doesn't do what the company's marketing claims. Fixing this will require a complete rewrite. - The few customers that we do have are unhappy, but don't really have a choice right now due to lack of available substitutes. But, the competitors are coming.

Avantages

• You will quickly learn what not to do when running a business. • Exposure to a wide range of responsibilities due to the company’s size, which may appeal to those who enjoy wearing many hats. • The compensation structure suggests the business has, at times, generated strong revenue.

Inconvénients

• In my experience, the company suffers from significant leadership and organizational challenges. Strategic direction often felt unclear, and decision-making appeared reactive rather than planned. • Support systems are minimal. When asking for help or guidance, responses were inconsistent or nonexistent, leaving teams to fend for themselves. • The company remains very lean following a large reduction in staff several years ago, and it has not returned to previous staffing levels. As a result, remaining employees appear overextended and under-resourced. • Internal processes, documentation, and long-term planning are lacking, which creates unnecessary friction and burnout. • The core product is highly proprietary and, from my perspective, feels rushed and over-engineered rather than thoughtfully designed. There are known structural limitations that do not appear to be prioritized for improvement. • “Unlimited PTO” exists in policy but, in practice, felt discouraged. Time off did not seem realistically accessible until after a lengthy tenure. • Morale felt low, and turnover appeared to be a recurring issue.
