Avantages

Friendly staff, working with and for special needs individuals can be extremely rewarding

Inconvénients

There is zero transparency between c-level and the rest of the company, which creates a sense of mistrust. Pay and increases are laughable.

Avantages

Block shifts consist of 56-64 continuous hours with 2 unpaid 8 hours sleep periods. You get 4 days of if you don't get stuck. Lots of opportunities for overtime.

Inconvénients

Working for this non-profit was quite a challenge. There is a huge gap in communication between lead management, supervisors and employees, as well as the program directors. I believe this is attributed to poor management habits and the culture they aroused with their lack of empathy for their direct care workers and low group home engagement. Supervisors are very over worked, hostile in communication with staff who express ideas and concerns and overlook the unprofessional work place behavior of their very unprofessional team leaders. Orientation and training programs for new hires are not comprehensive, while job descriptions are inaccurate and misleading. My observations during my short employment at InVision Human Services left me with a fine example of what to steer clear of when looking for an employer or workplace. This organization cares more about getting their houses staffed and praises those employees who are willing do unlimited overtime by just sitting at a house and doing the very bare minimum when it comes to helping their clients rather than giving credit to those DSP workers who have the passion and commitment to helping their clients with their goals, fulfilling the organizations mission, and who actually work hard at making sure their group homes are up to state licensing standards.
