Avantages

- Historically Rio Tinto have paid well for the Brisbane market - Very effective and efficient SAP delivery shop that pumps out 1,000's of changes/ year with minimal disruptions

Inconvénients

- Company used to be great but due to cost cutting they are outsourcing and offshoring roles away from Brisbane with outsourcing going to a single partner (Accenture) and permanent roles being moved offshore to Singapore, the US and Canada - As a result a lot of "good people" (to quote Rio Tinto) have left the business and this will only continue - Anyone who joins IS&T in Brisbane must consider their role at threat to be offshored as there is an active approach of moving resources offshore - The pace is frenetic. Friends who still work there are exhausted as they work harder to compensate for the extra work generated by the outsourcing and offshoring - Morale is atrocious and people are just waiting for their redundancy package.

Avantages

Local environment is very friendly and laid back. Everyone is helpful. The benefit package is nice as well. We do get the option to purchase company shares, 100% company match up to 6% for 401k plus additional deposits.

Inconvénients

Our company was recently purchased by Rio Tinto and their IT groups are very secular and specialized which makes it hard to communicate and get things resolved. I’ve also compared my salary to others with the same job title within manufacturing companies in my state and found my salary is way below the benchmark.
