J'ai travaillé chez dataxu en Contrat Permanent (Pendant plus de 3 ans)

    Avantages

I worked in sales at dataxu for over four years and can honestly say that if you are independently motivated and are able to work autonomously there is a lot of opportunity to do well. You have support and visibility all the way up to the CEO and have opportunities to work along side the executive team. The direction we are headed with the technology to back it makes dataxu a solid career move for any seller. It's not easy by any means but if you are confident in a consultative selling role then you can do very well. Success here also leads to a great work life balance.

    Inconvénients

You need to be able to work very independently, you cannot rely on receiving a lot of sales support.
With any tech company, there are a lot of people coming and going.
Industry and direction of the sales org is constantly changing.

    Conseils à la direction

Pay more attention to how each sales group is being managed and how much support the individual sellers are getting from their managers. Managers seem to be more concerned with internal communication up the chain and less concerned with helping sellers close deals.

    Avantages

-The pay is competitive and benefits decent for a start-up.
-Recently, management approved a 401k match
    -Smart people throughout the Company
-Senior management seems to be transparent in communication and Company meetings
-Nice office space with free food/snacks and close to most public transportation

    Inconvénients

-GTM team experiencing a serious exodus of talent and no telling when the bleeding will stop. Its so bad that we recently had an executive quit before they started. Getting harder and harder to hire once candidates investigate our reputation.
-Multiple layoffs globally in last 18 months bringing about feeling of zero job security. Some people have been hired and then let go within a matter of months
-Seemingly constant pivots in strategies makes people question whether its reacting to the market or desperation.

    Conseils à la direction

-Pick a strategy for the future and stick with it. Stop pivoting.
-Better training on new products and processes
-Instead of bribing employees to vote in online polls for "best place to work", actually find a way to improve morale and make the votes legitimate.
-Communicate why we are supposed to believe there are no imminent layoffs in the future again. I wouldn't refer my friends anymore for openings for fear they'd be out of a job in six months

    Avantages

    - Leadership is very concerned about long term growth
    - Leadership is fairly transparent about the state and strategy of the company
    - Employees are treated fairly
    - Company culture does a good job with work/life balance

    Inconvénients

    - Most of the people who left around me did so because they wanted higher salaries
    - The promotion and pay structure seems very rigid so you may have to struggle to get the money you want

    Conseils à la direction

10x is a real thing. You're better off paying you're 10x employees more and letting go of someone who is failing to contribute.

Je travaille chez dataxu à plein temps (Plus d'un an)

    Avantages

Dataxu seems to pay higher salaries than other firms in AdTech. Company benefits are relatively good.

    Inconvénients

Dataxu is not a driver of new technology in the market and is generally 2-5 years behind. Senior management is not able to define a strategic position for dataxu in the global market and can't close essential partnerships with other tech vendors. It is becoming isolated in its independence so that the term of being an agnostic platform slowly starts to dwindle. Selling Dataxu's products seems to be overly reliant on outcome of Forrester Wave reports.

    Conseils à la direction

The management needs to understand that one can't build a platform that is second to none and sell it if the best full-stack developers work elsewhere and the majority of their employees has never run a programmatic campaign using a DSP themselves. There is a too strong focus on the effort of winning a new client compared to the effort of retaining and growing a client at minimum costs.

    Avantages

Work on cool technology, constantly doing the newest thing. Do your 2-3 years here, get great technical resume builders, then move on. Great place to start early in career as you will learn tons technically.

    Inconvénients

Half of management has no clue how to manage or grow employees - especially the senior half. There is virtually no career growth aside from "learn technologies". No feedback on how to grow to next level, and virtually no chance at promotion beyond senior engineer. Senior management values time-in-seat more than productivity. Most of the senior people* who have been "promoted" lately are widely known to be poor performers OR people who cannot work with others to save their lives (some almost to the point of lawsuit bad) and were "promoted" out or senior management was desperate for a warm body to fill a role and needed someone "senior" who wasn't needed where they were.

Recent cuts in benefits and company perks is a downer.

Expect to work lots of nights - because your manager overcommitted on a project (again) and now you have to do 2 weeks of work in 1.

    Conseils à la direction

Stop hiring horrible managers. Seriously. Bad managers cause people to leave. When those bad managers leave, don't just promote the next most senior engineer - most of them have no business managing people. Only put those with the right skills into management positions. Its ok to leave a position unfilled for a couple months to get a good person in. Of course, that would assume you could hire a good manager. Career growth is more than just learning the next technology, its how to become a better engineer and a better leader.

Also, diversity means more than just not-white - it means lots of *different* ethnicities and a serious effort to work on the gender imbalance. When everyone comes from the same place, the ideas produced are not as good.
