    Avantages

    I had a fantastic time at i2i, I was given all the support that I needed when starting out but was quickly allowed to take control of my own work. Everyone was lovely and supportive regardless of which event they worked on. This carried through to the social aspects where HR and the social committee were very active and encouraged socialising throughout the whole company.

    Inconvénients

    The only downside to this internship is the low pay. Whilst it is good that it is paid at all it is barely a livable wage in London so you may need some of your own money saved to support you during these three months. However, the low pay should not put you off of applying here as the company makes up for it in many other ways.

    Avantages

    You were treated like part of the team and your ideas were valued. You also learnt a lot! Also, a very young team and great work socials!

    Inconvénients

    Sometimes, the workload could get a bit much, which was stressful, but is to be expected in the events industry.

    Avantages

    It is a good company to start off your career and learn new things. Colleagues are really friendly and the pressure of working there is not really hard.

    Inconvénients

    I wouldn't work there more than 2 years after finishing your studies. There is no promotion among employees.

    Very good offices, despite the poor location. The company takes employee engagement seriously and offers a grown-up but fun environment. The products are all very high quality and people are generally passionate about their work.     The brands are very strong, but with that come expectations that leave no margin for error. PDs through to sales execs are annually handed relentless budgets that preclude anything other than all hands on deck, full ahead charge at selling exhibition space/driving footfall. Whilst this has driven what is now a very slickly aligned sales and marketing process, it has come at a cost. Talented people are left wondering...

    Avantages

    A great office environment, open plan with a 'Google' feel to it. The people socially are fantastic and are looked after when it comes to organised events and activities with a genuine work hard play hard approach. All events appear to be the biggest/leading/most successful in their own industries.

    Inconvénients

    From the outside, looks great...the events seem to do well but there appear to be only a few real passionate 'events' people in the business. The rest are made up of interns and very young possibly out of their depth kids. Most of these are in the marketing team. Aside from my Brand Manager I'm not entirely sure who works on or cares about my brand due to 'matrix?' set up. I've been at other events companies and this...

    Stop treating staff and teams like children. If you insist on employing kids you have to teach them and guide the experienced people into the right job in the business. Progression is minimal for all. Support your sales teams with relevant and upto date collateral early enough in a show cycle for it to actually be useful. We need more support from our 'support' teams. All seem stretched, over worked and undervalued....

    I wouldn't return to i2i for twice the money I was earning, but I did make some great friends while I was there and learnt a lot about the trade show industry. There are some nice perks at times- yoga for example, and frequent social events.

    Inconvénients

    Very little chance of progression. You won't be promoted- they just hire people in above you. The marketing structure is so segmented that people become specialists, which is detrimental if you're junior. Who is going to hire you going forward if you don't know the broader skills required?! Management don't know what they're on about. Setting highly unrealistic targets and tearing you to shreds when you don't hit them...

    Know what you're talking about and treat your employees as actual people. Don't take things personally- it's business. Don't blame the people you manage for your shortcomings. We're all learning and there's no harm in admitting that. Don't take credit for things you didn't do! Surely it looks good on you if the person you manage thrives?

    A super fun environment to work in. The best thing about my time there was the opportunity to work across established events and new launches. The senior management were ( still are I hope!) really supportive. A true understanding that we were in it together through the highs and lows. There was visible progression and promotion of talent during my 5 years there ( especially with junior staters moving into event directors)...

    One of the reasons I left is because I wanted to work on tech events. At that moment the event mix was heavily weighted in say retail for example.

    Keep recruiting good talent! Plus from.my observation it was sometimes a bit of a youth club atmosphere ( only natural given the opportunity to let go at the socials.)..older staff felt a bit like responsible adults. perhaps nip that in the bud.
