Freshfields LLP est un cabinet d’avocats d’affaires international de tout premier plan, implanté à Paris depuis plus de cinquante ans. Les quelques 130 avocats à la Cour que comporte le Cabinet offrent à une clientèle française et internationale (composée notamment de grands groupes cotés, fonds d’investissement, et établissements financiers) des prestations couvrant l’ensemble des pratiques essentielles du droit des affaires. Le bureau de Paris figure systématiquement en tête des classements nationaux et internationaux dans chacune des disciplines qu’il pratique : M&A, private equity, fiscalité, restructuring, financement, droit de la concurrence, contentieux et arbitrage, droit du travail. L’équipe fiscale du Cabinet est considérée comme l’une des équipes leader en France et dans le monde. Elle : (i) intervient en support transactionnel, en coordination avec les autres équipes du Cabinet ; et (ii) accompagne les clients du Cabinet sur leurs problématiques fiscales spécifiques, en conseil comme en contentieux, dans un cadre national ou transfrontalier.

Que ferez-vous chez nous ?

Vous ferez partie de l’équipe fiscale, composée de deux associés, un counsel et cinq collaborateurs. En tant que stagiaire, vous serez pleinement intégré(e) à l’équipe et travaillerez avec les collaborateurs et associés de celle-ci, sous leur supervision. Vos missions s’inscriront dans le cadre de dossiers traités par le Cabinet et seront aussi variées que ces derniers : vous pourrez être ainsi amené(e) à conduire des travaux de recherche, participer à la rédaction de notes fiscales et des clauses fiscales de contrats divers, ou encore à contribuer à la conception de stratégies de défense dans le cadre de contentieux fiscaux.

Quelles sont les qualités que nous recherchons chez vous ?

Vous avez un réel intérêt pour la matière fiscale, un véritable enthousiasme à la perspective de compléter votre formation par une expérience pratique exigeante, dans un environ de haut niveau, afin d’acquérir une vue à 360° de la fiscalité telle qu’elle est pratiquée dans des cabinets d’affaires de premier plan.

Prérequis académiques

Nous recherchons en priorité des titulaires du CRFPA, ayant suivi un parcours universitaire d’excellence en droit des affaires, diplômés (ou en voie de l’être) d’un M2 en fiscalité. Les doubles cursus droit + Grande Ecole/école de commerce de premier plan, IEP ou LLM, sont particulièrement appréciés. Les candidats doivent disposer d’un excellent niveau d’anglais, leur permettant d’évoluer aisément auprès de notre clientèle internationale et de nos confrères basés à l’étranger, tant à l’écrit qu’à l’oral.

Idéalement, le candidat aura déjà effectué un ou plusieurs stages au sein de départements fiscaux de cabinet d’avocats, ou auprès d’une direction fiscale d’un grand groupe. Les stages dans les départements transactionnels (M&A, private equity, financement notamment) de cabinets d’avocats, ainsi que les stages en cabinet d’audit, banque d’affaires, ou fonds d’investissement, sont également appréciés.

WHO ARE WE?

Freshfields LLP is a leading international business law firm, established in Paris for more than fifty years. The firm's 130 or so lawyers provide services to French and international clients (including major listed companies, investment funds and financial institutions) covering the full range of core business law practices. The Paris office is consistently ranked at the top of national and international rankings in each of its practice areas: M&A, private equity, tax, restructuring, financing, competition law, litigation and arbitration, and employment law. The firm's tax team is considered one of the leading teams in France and worldwide. The team: (i) provides transactional support, in coordination with the firm's other teams; and (ii) assists the firm's clients with their specific tax issues, both in an advisory and litigation capacity, in a national or cross-border context.

What will your role be in our firm?

You will be part of the tax team, consisting of two partners, one counsel and five associates. As an intern, you will be fully integrated into the team and will work with and under the supervision of the partners and associates. Your assignments will be as varied as the cases handled by the firm: you may be required to conduct research, participate in the drafting of tax memoranda and tax clauses in various contracts, or assist in the drafting of defence strategies in the context of tax litigation.

You have a genuine interest in tax matters, a real enthusiasm for the prospect of completing your training with demanding practical experience in a high-level environment in order to acquire a 360° view of taxation as practised in leading business firms.

Academic requirements:

We are looking for candidates who have passed the CRFPA (entrance to bar school) exam, have an excellent academic background in business law, hold a Master 2 degree in tax law (or are in the process of obtaining one). In addition to this, a diploma from a leading Institute of Political Studies/Business School or an LLM is particularly appreciated. Candidates must have an excellent level of English, both spoken and written, enabling them to work with ease with our international clientele and colleagues based abroad.

Ideally, the candidate will have already completed one or more internships in the tax department of a law firm or in the tax department of a large group. Internships in the transactional departments (M&A, private equity, financing in particular) of law firms, as well as internships in audit firms, investment banks or investment funds, are also appreciated.
