Then got a follow-up email from HR after about a week saying that they weren't sure if they could accommodate me as an intern but that they would try and find another area within Abbott for me to intern; got a phone call like a week or so later with an offer for a different position

I got an interview from a warm intro, which led to 5 interviews in total: my connection, the R&T team, a CFD expert, current Co-Ops, another interview with R&D team, and a CAD engineer.

Straightforward process, applied via school portal. Asked about resume points and standard behavioural questions. Gave an overview of the work and expected role. Hiring manager decided to offer on the spot.
