J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Allegis Transcription (Portland, OR) en août 2020

      Entretien

Very quick, pleasant and straight forward. The call only lasted about 20 mins, and we talked about relevant transcription experience I've had working with a law firm. She told me I should expect a follow up in less than a week.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

What relevant experience do you have? Do you have a PC? Windows 10? How many hours are you looking to work per week?

      Entretien

Was given a generous date for a remote interview over Zoom, a webcam was not required which can make it easier for the anxious types. Fairly direct and fair in terms of what they needed to know from me.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

One was a standard question, something along the lines of, "Why did you seek out this job?" It's been weeks since the interview and I found out that I could do this, so I'm sorry in advance.

For the remote position, you apply on their website. Since I applied and interviewed they've added a beginner transcriptionist to their jobs applications. I applied for the one that required experience since I do have some. You take a grammar test online. Once you pass that one, you will have access to the sample transcription file which is about 4 minutes long and it was verbatim. That "unlocks" the next phase which is a phone interview in which you schedule online. The interview itself took about 45 minutes. The person was nice enough and explained the job and the pay range. It seems like you can work your way up to possibly around $15.00 per hour (depending on the audio quality and your skills). but you start out on a tiered pay-per-page system. I think training pay stared out at $1.25 per page and goes from there. I can't remember the max. It may have been around $1.45 per page. I came away with the feeling that there is a certain type of culture there some will possibly love or like. I didn't get the feeling that I would or that I would be hired even though I am qualified. It's just something I couldn't quite put my finger on that was a turn-off after the interview.

      Questions d'entretien [4]

      Question 1

One thing that I was asked that was a turn off a few days later. The person already had asked how many hours I could work and could I meet the expectation which I could because I do other contract work. So I could do at least 20 up to 40 hours. So it's really none of their business rather or not you have another job. Keep in mind this is a contract job. You are not an employee. So as along as you are meeting or can meet their expectations, the rest is the interviewer/company trying to categorize you in a way they shouldn't. They don't offer benefits and you are not an employee.

      Question 2

How did you start doing transcription?
      1 réponse

      Question 3

How many words-per-minute you can type?
      1 réponse

      Question 4

Lastly, I did not get an offer which is 100% okay with me after doing the interview and the person saying they needed a lot of people. But another turn off is that when they sent what was titled and application update. They some general reasons that COULD have been a deciding factor such as work availability, experience, etc. And then it was signed with two person's first names . No last names. It's not a holiday card and I thought it was quite childish for a company that size. But each to their own.
