Spoke with the hiring manager for about an hour an 15 minutes. I told him the compensation that I was expecting based off of my current position. I was led to believe that they would be able to offer near my expectations. Later, I had a phone screening with the Senior Analyst in that position. I was called the next day with an offer and compensation substantially below what I was requesting. When I told them I couldn't move for the amount that was offered, the HR representative told me that he will talk to the hiring manager and "get back to me." About an hour later, I received and email stating that they had gone in a different direction.
