After I had sent in my resume, I received a phonecall the next day inviting me over for an interview the day after that. The first talk was with the CTO and we had a good informal talk about the company and my potential role there. It was a pleasant talk and he even promised to get back to me the same day if I were to fill this vacancy. Next up was a technical interview by two developers and to be honest it was a real technical deep dive, more than I had experienced before. Altough it was kind of exhausting and felt like a real test, this actually made me want to work there even more, as it seemed there was a lot I could still learn about performance critical systems. I did indeed receive a phonecall the same day, saying they would like to hire me. I really liked that honesty and fast response and experienced the procedure as challenging but pleasant nonetheless. Now that I've been here for a bit more than a month, I can say it lives up to the expectations. Nice people and plenty of challenges to deal with!
