The interview process at Allwyn UK started on a positive note but quickly became frustrating and poorly managed.
The first stage was a technical discussion centred around my CV. I found it to be friendly, informative, and well-structured.
Unfortunately, the second and final stage was far less pleasant. My interview was abruptly cancelled just 15 minutes before the scheduled time, because apparently it had to be conducted on-site - something that was never communicated to me beforehand. I then rebooked and travelled to their office the following week.
I was told beforehand that the session would involve another technical talk and some behavioural questions. However, when i arrived, I was instead given a live coding exercise that I hadn't been asked to prepare for. Unsurprisingly, I didn't perform at my best under those circumstances. After that, communication broke down completely. I waited a while before receiving updates, before I was told by the recruiter that my application was unsuccessful due to my technical task "not being strong".
Had the expectations been made clear and communication handled better, I may have been able to properly prepare and demonstrate my abilities. The lack of transparency, last-minute changes, and poor communication left a very negative impression of the company and its hiring process.
