The phone interview lasted for around 10 minutes. Questions about personal information were asked in English and questions about the company were asked in Japanese. The Japanese recruiter specifically said that I will only be doing the interview (2nd round) when she actually had a surprise language test with limited time. My friend was told prior, so I thought that was unfair. And also, the recruiter being late to the first two interviews was disrespectful and unprofessional.

Initial call with a recruiter to gain an insight into the role. This was followed by two subsequent calls with more senior members of staff which entailed more technical questions. A language test also had to be carried out.
