I found the posted listing in craigslist, and applied online. Initially, one must answer generic cleaning questions (handling cleaners, etc.), and then there are photographs of rooms in various states of disorganization which the applicant must describe, in greatest detail, how they would clean. (To further one along in this process, I must stress that I took great pains to be thorough in these descriptions). Within a few days I received a phone call from the Portland coordinator (there is no longer an office here), who essentially went over the same questions, discussed the payment options, and invited me to come to a briefing. Due to a scheduling conflict, I was unable to attend the regularly scheduled group sessions, so we had a one-on-one welcome where he briefly went over the history of the company, expectations, and more or less how things worked internally/through the app. After everything was approved, and I was officially added I came back to the office to pick up some work gear, and join the professional platform.
