Recommended by someone who works there and was contacted by the recruiter. The recruiter was great to work with, kept communication open, and was transparent the entire time. Once I was scheduled to interview with the hiring manager, he dominated most of the hour interview instead of being of a 2-way conversation. It also seemed like I was wasting his time as he kept looking away when I was talking. I almost immediately felt he had a bias against me, but did not want to assume the worst. He was a tough interviewer and insisted on specific answers for very generic, ambiguous questions. I believed he was either a tough interviewer or that he did not like me from the start. He came across condescending at some points as well, although I could tell he was carefully trying not to be. As it turns out, they did not move forward with my application which makes me wonder why the hiring manager agreed to meet with me at all if his mind was obviously already made up about me. Was out of procedure or courtesy because I was recommended, or because they have to meet a diversity interviewing quota? I felt I never had a fighting chance.

The interviewer was well versed in the software domain. They asked for an introduction at first and then they asked mainly about what I new about the company and the role that i had applied for.
