On 20th September, (A few weeks after applying for the job) I received a list of 7 questions to answer. As an applicant, anyone can get that his/her resume has been shortlisted for further processing. I took a lot of time to carefully and transparently crafted the response. one of the question was about salary. I put a number there based on my NY experience. Then on 26th, I got an email saying that the salary ask is too much and they are offering x amount. I then researched and talked to several local people and decided that the x amount is sufficient enough. I responded back saying that I am good with it, to which the recruiter said that she had forwarded the information to the hiring team and they would then discuss on immigration and next steps: "Thank you again! I have passed this info over to the team. Now we are looking at options for immigration so I'll keep you in the loop on next steps. "
3 days after that, I received a "canned" response that "We had a lot of interest in this position and, although we were very impressed with your qualifications and experience and gave very careful consideration in assessing them against our needs, I regret to advise ........blah blah"
WITHOUT SPEAKING WITH ME even ONCE!
This I believe is a TOTAL TIME WASTE for me! If it was about immigration, why would anyone not sort that out first before talking about salary (Or at least in parallel). I would rather expect this kind of negative response instead of his questionnaires in the first place.
