What a horrible experience. I advise anyone applying to the User Operations Specialist to not waste their time with this company. I find it interesting that all the reviews about interviewing for that particular position, have “ no offer” ( with the exception of 1 review). In my opinion, I don’t believe the position is actually open and they just simply like to waste people’s time. At first; you get a 45 minutes interview, ( which I got praised for and felt the sense of excitement to continue to the next step). I got moved to the next step the very next day ( which I found a bit strange and rather rushed) and it was a writing assignment. Spent a few hours researching more about the product, and I’m very confident I did a very good job. Submitted the assignment before the 48 hours turn around time passed, and I got a reply on a Sunday saying it was received. The very next morning ( again, rushed) the team had graded it and I did “ very well” and they wanted to schedule an in person interview with 4 people to last 2 hours and 45 minutes, also an additional phone call( not sure what the call was for? To make sure the recruiter likes you?) well, they asked basic questions, why asana, salary discussion and employment eligibility. Before that 20 minutes call, I had already received the full schedule for the long onsite interview and even a link to expense transportation. When in the 20 minutes call everything sounded excellent, and they were “ very excited” to meet me in person and discussed a timeline of 2 weeks if the onsite interview went well, enough time to check references and background check and confirmed the scheduled onsite. The next day, I received an email reminder about the onsite interview. 2 minutes later, AN EMAIL SAYING: “ out of respect to your time, we wanted to let you know the user operations specialist role has been filled and the position is now closed, we wish you all the best”. Are you serious? I could’ve described the product inside out smarter studying and doing major research to prepare me to the interview because I take things seriously, unlike Asana, which likes to keep their recruiters busy with fake scheduled interviews and is just a complete waste of time and a complete disrespect. If you read the other emails, that has happened before as well, so I think is a pattern and the recruiters just want to keep busy completely disregarding the time and effort a potential candidate put. My advise to you, DO NOT APPLY TO THE USER OPERATIONS ROLE. It either doesn’t exist, or they blatantly like to waste peoples time.

The interview process was very straightforward. I met with the recruiter for a 30-minute phone call, then about a week later I met with the hiring manager for a 30-minute phone call. After these two calls, I was asked to complete a writing assignment showing how I would respond to customers. Moving forward, I met with the recruiter again to go over feedback regarding the writing assignment and the hiring manager's feedback. During this call, I was invited to the last stage of the hiring process, which would be four 30-minute interviews with members of the User Operations team. After these interviews, I was asked to complete a writing assignment where I could write about anything I was passionate about for 15 minutes. Once the writing assignment was done, the hiring manager met with me to see if I had any last questions, let me know what I could expect within the next week, and thanked me for my time. Prior to the last stage of the interview, the recruiter met with me to go over the questions the interviewers would ask me. The recruiter was very communicative with me, providing me with a lot of positive feedback, keeping me up to date on the interview process, and helping answer any questions that I may have. During the interviews, it felt like a very comfortable process. Everyone was kind and understanding in making sure I understood their questions and what I should expect by working at Asana.

It's a long, multi-stage process including a series of interviews with recruiter and hiring manager and team, along with multiple writing exercises. It takes many weeks but is very organized and well implemented and communication is thorough.

The interview with Asana was a great experience overall. I met with a panel of people one after another and I could tell from the start that the interview was very well organized and thought out as not one interviewer repeated any question.
