I was invited for a text interview through Slack which went well. I was then proceeded to work on 2 exercises. In one of the exercises, I had to work on the data to analyze it and prepare a report. I submitted a detailed report with various visualizations and highlighted a theme within the data.
I was given a normal reject mail the next day without any explanation!
I understand that they have rejected a candidate and many people apply for this position, but a candidate has spent a lot of time to work on your exercise! Automattic mention their values on the website, but do not believe in them while interviewing a candidate! I was just asking for a feedback and it wasn't provided to me! A little bit of respect for someone who has spent a lot of time in your exercise and answered the questions correctly, it is difficult to understand where the candidate went wrong.
I wouldn't want to work for such a company who does not even believe in their own values!
This is from the Automattic website:
"4. Ask for feedback
It is through feedback that we can improve the language we use and the actions we take"
