A recruiter scheduled the initial phone interview about my background. During the call, he blurted out technologies I didn't mention and asked about my experience working on them. When I pointed out to him that I didn't mention 'Y' technology, he would look at my resume and say that he meant to ask about 'X' instead. He literally yawned a couple of times during the interview and rushed through the entire call. It was obvious this process wasn't meant to proceed further than the call. Why bother calling up a person when that's the case? Their job description said the interview process is technology agnostic, definitely not true in my case. Be prepared to be contacted by a recruiter who has no interest whatsoever (clearly didn't even go through my resume before the call) and no technical background (in his own words) listen to you (or not).

I applied online and was called by an Avant Recruiter. My first call seemed to be from a recruiter from their HR team. The recruiter confirmed that and at the end of the call he stated that if I made the next step, it will be with a member of their engineering team. Overall, I had a friendly conversation with the recruiter, and I was able to provide in-depth my experience and skills thus far. The phone screen was more behavioral based, which is understandable. Afterwards, he told me about the company and their culture. Although I was informed that I was a strong candidate, due to the current virus situation they have paused hiring for the role. Hopefully, I'll be able to reconnect and interview again in the future.
