After applying online, I was invited to an interview for 90 mins. I would have liked a screening conversation with a recruiter to discuss the role to figure out if it was for me or not, but this was not available.
The interview process was an hour and a half session where I had to do the following:
- Intro (15 mins)
- Present 3 x case studies (15 mins)
- Present take home assignment (15 mins)
- Competency based questions (30 mins)
- Q&A (15 mins)
The take home assignment was quite a lengthy one which you could easily spend around 4-6 hours completing. I spent around 6 hours on mine.
The interview felt like I was pretty much the only one talking for an hour and a half and felt quite corporate for the type of role. I understand they are a large corporation but for this role I thought it would be a little different.
After the interview I was advised I would hear back the following week as I was the last of the scheduled interviews for the roles.
I was offered the role, however the salary was a lot lower than my expectations on my application form, which in conversation with a recruiter post-interview said its something that they said they couldn't offer as they were public funded. This is why a screening conversation before an interview is necessary as I essentially wasted 7.5 hours of my time for a role that wouldn't have been suitable.

A task was shared with plenty of notice. But there was no initial screening call. I spent 8 hours on the task and it felt like I was used for free work.
There was a portfolio review, and competence and strength based interview. The interview instructions I had been sent did not mention strength based questions.
I had been very upfront about my salary expectations, and would not have gone through the process if BBC had been honest about what they could offer. I was offered significantly (almost 20k) less than I asked for.
