1 stage: Had a conversation with the responsible person who explained the role & challenges. Asked to do a business plan for next 3 years & present it to him further. He asked to share the plan by email. I spend a few days on creating and refining plan & emailed that to him as he asked to. I was asked to come & present the same plan to him. This plan was in terms of sales numbers for next 3 years based on the planned efforts.
2 stage: Presentation to him who seems fine with the plan but not look like he has any say in decision making. Wanted to meet his 2 bosses from France HQ (one F2F and one remote). Very flexible in arranging the suitable times for meeting
3 stage: Met his senior from France who was traveling in India & seemed to be very clear on his requirements for the role. I was asked to be informed in a few days time.
Post that there was no response after a week's time. I realized that they haven't considered the profile & after 2 weeks reactivated on job portal. I understood that they have been looking for the role since 3-4 months and still unable to decide. French companies are in general known for their slow decision making & less empowerment to their peers in India. I would have been better off saving my time to make presentations and 5-6 hours spend towards F2F meetings had I been upfront in asking what experience they need & what pay range they are looking at. I am not clear about their feedback as well & nobody from (HR, concerned person) had enough courtesy to send one line note about this. However, they set all calendars, calls, emails prior as required.. But then.,these are my expectations & I judge its way of working based on how company/people respond and close one selection cycle properly with minimal communication.
