Applied online, sending in resume, cover letter and taking an assessment test. Received an e-mail a couple weeks later to schedule phone interview. Phone interview was conducted through video chat on computer. Interview was easy, mostly containing of job duties and the “scary speech” – I.E. all the lifestyle demands of railroad operations (on call, working outside, difficult employees, away from home on holidays). Passed that and was asked to go to Jacksonville, FL to in person interviews. Interviews were tiered into three different activities (1) formal interview, (2) panel discussion and (3) role playing. The panel discussion involved a customer operational issue. You had 15 minutes to look over some materials and then try to come to a conclusion with other candidates in front of a panel. Role playing dealt with a difficult employee. Situation was that employee was speaking bad about company policies and the goal was to calm them down, listen to their complaints and come up with an action plan. Received their decision a week later.
