Multiple rounds of interviews, and they were very excited apparently about my profile and the discussions we had.
- 1 April, I got a call confirming that I stood out from the other candidates, had a very positive impression, etc and they wanted to give an offer and documents were to be sent same day or next day at the latest.
- Nothing happened for a week. I followed up and got some excuses indicating that "there is a process that needed to be followed between final stage and offer", but no worries, "sit tight".
- Nothing for another week+. I followed up again (almost 3 weeks after the alleged offer), this time the excuse was that "things have slowed as they finalize hiring budgets"...but no worries, "sit tight"
More than 1.5 months after the alleged offer, still no update, no nothing... (not that I would care after all this even if there was an actual offer)
To sum up:
1. Highly disrespectful and unprofessional way of treating candidates and abusing people's time and efforts invested in your interview process
2. Please at least be consistent with your excuses. First, there is a process that needs to be followed for an offer, then hiring budgets are being finalized. Not to mention that have a hiring budget before starting hiring people and wasting people's time.
