I had a screening interview. Interviewer was nice. But she said things that I found suspicious. It sounds like they have an issue paying people fairly (my minimum was too high) and managing them well (they have a huge decade backlog according to the interviewer). Or maybe they look for the mediocre devs.

I recently had an interview at the Ottawa branch of CBN, and I feel it’s important to share my experience for the benefit of others. The interview was the most unprofessional I’ve ever encountered. The manager grilled me throughout the interview, while the other interviewers watched awkwardly. To make matters worse, they made snide remarks about my responses and concluded by saying my application was terrible. This behavior was not only unprofessional, but it also wasted everyone’s time. If my application was truly as lacking as they claimed, there was no reason for them to interview me in the first place. This experience has significantly changed my perception of the company and has given me insight into its workplace culture. I cannot recommend this company, nor do I suggest wasting your time applying here. There are plenty of other organizations that will treat you with respect during the interview process and beyond. HR person scheduled the interview but never showed up, promised to re-book the interview but end up just ghosting me afterwards. Feels like a scam tactic and huge waste of time.
