My entire interview process at Chegg can be described in two words: uncomfortable and unwelcoming. The first round was a recruiter phone interview. The recruiter was unfriendly and seemed like she did not want to do her job. The call was supposed to last 30 minutes, but it only lasted about 10 minutes.
The next round was a 1 hour phone interview with the hiring manager. While the hiring manager seemed very knowledgeable about the field and the company, she also seemed unapproachable. I was surprised that I had moved on to the on-site after the phone call with the hiring manager because she seemed uninterested in anything I had to say during our call.
The last round was a 4-5 hour on-site interview with a presentation at the HQ. Upon walking into the building, I already felt not welcomed. The receptionist was rude and was not helpful at all. After check-in, I had my first half of 1:1 interviews with different individuals, ranging from UX Researchers, a Designer, and a PM. Some were very nice and personable, others were not so much. The first half of 1:1's was followed by a presentation. The conference room was full of researchers, designers, and a PM. As soon as I walked in, I could tell that no one wanted to be there. No one welcomed me in, said hi to me, nor offered me a drink after being interviewed for 2+ hours. The entire vibe completely threw me off and rubbed me the wrong way.
In the end, they decided to go with another candidate, which I am relieved about. A company should be welcoming to all their candidates and make them feel comfortable at every stage of the interview process. My interview at Chegg has been the worst I've had to this date, so be cautious of their hiring process if you get an interview.
I had a phone screening with the recruiter. It was very short and definitely felt like she was just following a checklist. I didn't get a chance to ask any questions. She said she wanted to get me in front of the hiring manager and I should hear by a certain day. When that day came and went, I followed up. She was apologetic and said she would get back to me later. Same thing happened again. In the end I heard nothing either way - no interview and no rejection.

Most rude interviewer I've encountered: after talking to me on the phone for less than 10mins, she hang up without saying anything at all. I called right back, didn't wait a second, and asked whether she had a bad reception/signal. She acted like she didn't know who I was and what we'd talked about. I was very clear: " hi, this is [my name], it seems we just got cut out, do you have a bad reception on your end?" She paused for few secs, I thought she would hang up again, she said nothing about the hanging up or whatever else it was on her side, and wrapped up the "conversation" in about 3 mins, saying that I'll hear back from them if they decide to move forward with an in-person interview.
She mentioned nothing about whether she was having trouble hearing me on the phone or anything like that, nothing about ending the previous discussion we were having on one of my past projects. Rudest person I've spoken too, and I hope she gets fired for such behavior. If I knew who her supervisor is I'd would have contacted them directly.
