J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Collage.com (Brighton, MI) en août 2020

      Entretien

I applied with resume and cover letter and they got back to me the very next day with an online interview request. I scheduled the interview and met with someone very friendly. The whole interview seemed very casual. The interview mostly asked what I would do in certain situations - situations like being asked to work over time or receiving criticism. I was told that I'd impressed the interviewer. So, I received a take-home work exercise, which seemed simple enough. However, a week later, I learned that I had not gotten the job. I attempted to follow up with questions about my application, but have not heard back from them.

      Entretien

I applied directly through the Collage.com website. The length of time from submitting the online application to receiving a hiring decision was approximately two weeks. The video interview itself felt short and rushed. It was scheduled to be at least 30-45 minutes, but it lasted no more than 15-20 minutes. It started with the interviewer having technical issues with her microphone and video camera which took about seven minutes to get resolved (the interviewer ended up not being on camera just audio). There were very few questions asked by the interviewer and it seemed like she did not know what questions she was going to ask. The questions I included below were the only questions I was asked during the entire interview. I do not feel there was an opportunity to express my thoughts or go into detail about the attributes I thought made me a good candidate for the position. Another thing that struck me as odd about Collage was when the interviewer stated "we don't really have any management here." The "take-home" assignment is the only thing I enjoyed about this experience. I completed it on Monday (the same day I received it) and got the rejection notice on Friday. Emma or Emily or some other really basic name I cannot remember, was the employee who sent the email which contained very noticeable grammatical errors. I felt this was strange, since she is a random person I have never spoken to during this process and seems like it would have been better to have my interviewer relay the hiring decision instead. I get the impression Collage does not really pick applicants based on experience or any other logical reasons, but instead based on how the wind blows or how they are feeling on that given day. A suggestion I have for Collage is to make sure the employee who emailed the hiring decision understands correct grammar, because little things like that are honestly a bit embarrassing on the company's part. Hopefully, Collage can use my feedback constructively, but past interview experiences from previous years indicate all suggestions made to the Collage team go in one ear and out the other, unfortunately. Good luck to anyone considering applying for this position! You never know what the experience will be like for you unless you try it yourself.
