Single interview round, one hour, panel of 3
Interview rigidly structured around Civil Service Behaviours: "Give us an example of where you demonstrated behaviour A", and then move on to the next one. Very little opportunity for really exploring anything in depth
CMA's communication was really poor. The process was delayed (a five week gap between interview and notification). There was no proactive outreach about the delayed timetable, no response to emails sent to the named HR contact and no answer to phone calls to the HR department. Left an impression of lack of respect for candidates.
Written feedback is provided but was not useful to understanding where you fell short relative to other candidates

Question 1
Give us an example of when you had to manage multiple competing priorities and how you went about it (followed by similar questions for most Civil Service Behaviours)

I applied online through the usual civil service application process. The Interview was on teams with panel of three directors, and I was asked fairly typical civil service interview questions. There was an option to interview in person if you wanted to travel to London. I had a case study exercise to complete and submit ahead of the interview. Long wait for the outcome, literally months, at which point I was told that although I was appointable and they would have loved to offer me the job, they were no longer able to recruit to the post due to budget changes. Very frustrating. I was placed on a reserve list for a year.
