I reached the third step of the hiring process. I first passed the HR interview, where I was asked to introduce myself, describe my experience, and explain what my previous companies do and what I achieved there. She also asked what I knew about the company and what my motivations were. The interview was in French, but she wanted to test my English, so we switched to English for part of the discussion. She then asked what my previous manager would say about me and what my salary expectations were.
The second interview was with the Senior Data Science Manager. We discussed my experience, the tools I used, and my projects. He also asked what I knew about the company and my motivations to check the culture fit.
After that, I completed the technical test and did my best on the project. However, they told me that the entire project was generated by AI. I clarified that I did not use AI to generate the technical work, the analysis, or the implementation. I only used AI tools to structure comments and correct grammar, and no LLM on the market could generate the work I produced. They didn’t give me a chance to present my solution to the team and explain my reasoning.
In the end, it felt like a waste of time. They focused too much on culture fit rather than on what really matters for this kind of role. After that step, I believe there are still interviews with the team, the VP, and even the CEO. That’s a lot of interviews for such a position.
