      Seems after 4 years of mostly bad reviews someone would have learned but obviously not. Started off with a call with the recruiter and then we decided to move on on the technical phone interview. The interview questions are about DraftKings business model in which a lot of people are not familiar with so they ask you to watch a couple of 15-minute videos and the recruiter asked me to create account and they will deposit $DK money in it so I can go ahead and familiarize myself on how they work. I created the account and sent him the user-id and then nothing happened, no response no deposit that was a flag of incompetency (flag 1). Why do promise something you can't deliver? A day before the interview they realized they had a conference so they had to reschedule, I'd understand if the interviewer had a personal issue but this is clear lack of communication between departments or bad time management on the interviewer's side (flag 2). Fast-forward getting into the interview the software engineer, he started off asking if I have an idea about their business model, my response was that I watched the tutorial videos but wasn't given the fake money deposit as promised and told them to bear with me as I'm not familiar with everything they have, they noted and said they will bring that back to the department. Starting with the first question I took sometime getting the business model and what they need and once I got the idea I started thinking of the solution and before I started vocalizing anything the interviewer goes and says you can do with a double loop solution, so I went with that solution as it was their hint (flag 3, will come to this later) and there were 5 more questions of the same sort in which I breezed with minimal amount of code (one liners for a couple). I finished the questions on time and felt good about myself that those questions were aced. Well, I was wrong... a couple of days later I receive an email from the recruiter that they will not move forward, so I responded if they could provide more details as I'm surprised by that response. They came back that the first answer was of complexity of O(n^2) go to flag 3 and see why would offer me a hint saying its ok while its not ok. Is this kind of a mind game? Second feedback is because you struggled with understanding the business model well refer to flag 1. Lastly, that I didn't have the time to write unit tests which made go re-read the interview email confirmation which has zero references that I have to write unit test code(flag 4). A piece of advice, asking people to write code with the not so famous fantasy football business model is so gimmicky and doesn't serve the interviewees any better, this something for more big techs like Amazon and Google and their famous models that we deal with on daily basis. Give your interviewers a proper training on how to perform interviews and they should talk when necessary and the hints should help the interviewees to succeed not to fail. Lastly it seems the recruitment team not improving and making false promises, this kind of empowered behavior is recipe for a failing organization. I don't think I'll be interested in interviewing with this company again as it seems they haven't changed in 4 years of mostly negative reviews.

      Four parts interview: Technical coding test in C# language. see questions below. Team dynamics, (behavioral) System Design: including OOAD excercise. Technical deep dive: impacts driven, opportunity and show case one project you worked on previously. Followed by a recuiter's debrief of a 2 minute call, which I was epxecting to give me a decison, rather the recruiter just said we will let you know. They use hacker rank for everything. To be honest its the worst tool and very unusfull for design interviews, rather than focusing on your approach, you bump into learning how to use the hacker rank drawing tool as its awefull.

      Draft Kings: Data structure and algorithms: refactoring and scalablity and run time of code. Complete in java or c#. Interviewer was nice, gentle, and helping out with hints with good communication skills. Hacker rank: Customer Discounts Validation. given objects of ICollection 1. Validate No customers have more than three discounts, 2. Validate no customers have more than 20 % collective discount given from their previously year spend. 3. Validate that each discount is assigned to atleast one customer 4. Based on yearly customer spend, seggregate customers into A,B,C classes for discounts where doscount C > B > A. (Key here is to load all the data in disctionaries and do the fast dictionary lookups, however, tell them that where data is huge this might cause problem of loading millions of records in memory) Senior Software Engineering Manager- Team Dynamic interview: - Introduced himself, and the company, teams he is managing, Asked about my background, leadership capabilities, mentorship, problem handling in teams, teams learning capabilities. He also asked situation based questions like, What If scenarios? When did you went above and beyound, how did you handle if a team member is constanly lagging progres, How did you handle requests for immidiate bug fixing in live products? etc Lead Software Engineer- Object Oriented Design interview: - Designing a Restaurant order managemnt system: given the waiters are Robots not humans. Interviewer presented with different scenarios, asked questions on my approach, and inquired about how to extend the design to add more capabilities like introducing a cleaning robots. What functions could be made common among waiters etc. Software Engineering Manager- Technical Deep Dive Interview: - Had a call: interviewer introduced himself. Then I started on a project of my own choosing to walk him through on the architecture and OOD design of the software. External tools used in the system, alternatives that could be used. Some of the challenges and bottlenecks of the system. Problems faced and how did you fixed those. As my project was on a public cloud provider for most parts, I also had some custom code written with heavey usage of event's handling by the cloud component, rather than hand built scalability, security, DR, or resilience etc. The interviewer didn't look satisified, and was probably looking for me to build everything by a coding langugage. 14:30-14:45- Erin Kinback - Talent Acquisition Lead- Recruiter Debrief - A two minute call with Recruiter, she just asked about how was the porcess overall and if I had any questions. She informed me that it will take a week or so to accumulate the feedback from everyone. She will keep me posted.

      Interviewer was late and seemed unprepared. They were distracted throughout our conversation, and I had to keep reminding them to answer my questions. The questions they asked were too basic for a lead role. It made me question how the company assesses advanced skills for high-level positions. Overall, the interview process lacked the professionalism and thoroughness you'd expect for a senior+ level job.
