First call was with a recruiter. The talk was very much focused on the company. Next round was a 30-min interview with 2 members of the team. 3rd round was a challenge I had to complete within 72 hours and then a presentation of it via web conference to 4 people. There’s a 4th round too. It was kind of confusing because at each round, I got different explanations of the role (in one I was told that the position only does the design side of ID and no front end analysis as well as no development, but in another I was told that the position will include all three). It’s a really new team and entirely new endeavor for the company so maybe that’s part of the confusion with role clarification. The recruiter was very nice but also very talkative, and it was hard to chime in about my experience and qualifications at times—I had to intentionally interrupt him. After the 3rd round, he was supposed to get back to me by a certain day but never did. I think he kind of stopped being responsive after he knew I wouldn’t be advancing (can’t really blame him.. it’s probably not easy to always be delivering bad news). I finally called him and he said I did very well in my challenge but that they were on the fence about me because I wasn’t excited enough about the company. He was supposed to talk to the team again for a final decision and get back to me but I haven’t heard back.

Had a short phone chat with the recruiter, followed by another short video interview with two members of the team. Then, I was to have another interview. I informed the recruiter that I was unavailable for three days the following week (traveling for my current job role). I received an invitation for the interview that conflicted with my travel dates, and I promptly replied offering several alternative times. I never received any response at all. I was very interested in the position and impressed with the two members of the team that I met, but I couldn't jeopardize my current job by cancelling travel at the last minute. While it was disappointing, I wouldn't want to work for a company that would ghost a candidate.
