This interview was for a brand new store that hasn't opened yet. They told me to fill out an application while I waited for my turn to interview (there was a line of applicants, they were having a job fair, essentially.) I heard the owner (who was conducting the interviews) tell the two people ahead of me that he wasn't hiring anymore cashiers/non-bakers but that he would put their applications in an alternate pool in case he needed someone in the future. That was discouraging, and I went into the interview expecting the same to be said to me. Instead, after five minutes of pleasant conversation, I was offered a job and enthusiastically told that I was going to be a great asset to the team. (And I only have a year of fast-food experience ha ha!) I think he politely turned the people ahead of me away because of their age- they seemed to be young high school students. He then gave me information about orientation and training. He was so nice and really sold the company to me and made me feel actually excited to start.
